So I read a few chapters from Donald Millers book, “Looking for God Knows What”. It was good but I wasn’t sold on it as some others I know that read it. I felt like he was very good at making cool anologies and he told some good stories. I guess I didn’t feel like he said anything “new” or “profound”…it just made me want to go read my Bible. Which I guess is a great thing. I was thinking though after I read the book that the reason I didn’t like it much was because he made Jesus seem like too nice or some flighty character passing out flowers to everyone. I mean I don’t know, maybe I am completely wrong but I think Jesus probably raised his voice and was firey with passion when he spoke. And then there is this whole issue of justice. Did Jesus show justice to people?? I’ve heard that this is just an Old Testament thought but I mean God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow so if was once just he cannot just be not just now. I just do not know.
I like this blog, it seems like a safe place to let out my thoughts like these

Well, if it got you into the Scripture then it did a great job. Read through the gospels as much as possibly and see how Jesus was. And while you’re doing that, also try to figure out what justice really is.

hahah, funny that you were trying to be sneaky sneaky. you probably wouldn’t have had to tell me, because jake would have kept it a secret no doubt.
I love your honesty, and that’s really what i i liked most about the book- was that it made me hungry for Jesus and to read the Word for myself. Great books always push you to the Word (whether that be the written Word or the Word made flesh). If you’re satisfied with the book alone, it probably wasn’t all that good, at least in my opinion.

i looked up “justice” in the dictionary, found the definition they had, and then started using that definition in the places where scripture says that God is just. You are right, God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His nature cannot change. Jesus is the very image of God. Jesus is just. Now we have to figure out what that means and what that looks like lived out today, by us. Keep thinking and searching.
